About Mathew Bergan
Mathew Bergan, Today, Mathew is a writer, teacher, somatic councillor, artist, and business owner. Mathew now writes and produces queer sound healing immersions which address queer trauma and shame through the healing alchemy of soundscape and storytelling. Since 2000 Bergan has been directing Dancing Warrior Yoga in Sydney, which includes yoga teacher training, workshops, retreats and the online yoga portal, Yogi Trove. Prior, he was a dancer & choreographer in London and Australia. Mathew has a BA in film & cultural studies from UTS. He has written & produced his own full-length show, Tales of Helpmann, funded by NSW Arts Ministry, later adapted into Lyrebird and staged by Sydney Theatre Company. He co-curated Anti-Static Dance Festival, with The Performance Space, Sydney, premiering international dance artist. He has written & choreographed his own dance films for ABC & SBS TV: The Father is Sleeping, Body Corporate & Resonance. He has been the recipient of artist development grants from the Churchill Fellowship, Arts NSW, and the the Australian Council for the Arts.
